A Few Words About this Exhibit
This exhibition of the work of Lyla Vivian Marshall Harcoff is the first comprehensive retropective since the Santa Barbara Museum of Art's solo exhibition in 1949. Marshall, born near Lafayette, Indiana was widely exhibited in her lifetime. Her work was and is seen in several public collections and numerous private collections. Her work was featured in exhibitions in her native Indiana, at the famous Independent Society of Artists in Chicago and in many exhibits in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and her adoptive home for forty years, Santa Barbara, California. She completed several murals, including several for the Works Progress Administration under the direction of Stanton McDonald Wright.
