This year marks the fifth return of 100 Grand, the annual exhibit of emerging talent that showcases 100 pieces all priced at $1,000 or less. Curated by Susan Bush, the holiday-season staple at Sullivan Goss (7 E. Anapamu St.) has become one of the gallery’s most popular events, attracting close to 1,000 attendees in 2012 alone. While the goals of the event are manifold, 100 Grand is programmed primarily to let young collectors “get in on the ground floor” and purchase serious pieces from newer talents at prices well below market rate. And in addition to works from some of last year’s best-selling artists, 2013’s installment will feature 17 artists who have never exhibited at Sullivan Goss before. The exhibit kicks off next Thursday, December 5, and will show through February 1, 2014. For more information, call (805) 730-1460 or visit sullivangoss.com.
