LA's RISEN, 2011 (Expanded); Arthur Secunda was born in New Jersey and educated at the Art Students League in New York and in Paris and Rome. He is a noted collage artist and printmaker, having received two grants from the Tamarind Lithography Workshop. When Redwoods was painted, he was the editor at Artforum magazine for Los Angeles as well as Curator of Education at the Santa Barbara Art Museum. He also showed at a small gallery devoted to contemporary abstract art next to the Karpeles Museum called Gallery 8. (John Bernhardt also showed there.) Secunda also taught at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, the Pasadena Art Museum, and at Long Beach State College.
