OPENING RECEPTION: SATURDAY, APRIL 17, 2004, FROM 5 - 7PM
Sullivan Goss - An American Gallery in Montecito, presents a major exhibition of the paintings of Harry Carmean, one of California’s great artistic treasures. Harry Carmean is arguably California’s finest living figurative artist. Having taught for over 40 years at the Art Center, Pasadena where he studied with and befriended the legendary Lorser Feitelson, Carmean has become synonymous with the desired lyrical nature of figurative painting and drawing. His works soar in their manner and soothe in their composition and always relate the classical form. The reference point of "Studied with Carmean" appears on the CV’s of an increasing number of contemporary artists.
As the exclusive representative of Harry Carmean, this is the second in a series of several exhibits that Sullivan Goss is planning that include the themes that Harry Carmean has chosen over a lifetime of painting. These include family scenes, lovers, bohemian cafe vignettes, artists & models, bathers, circus acrobats and dancers backstage.
