MARIA RENDÓN works and lives in Santa Barbara and maintains an active presence in the L.A. art community. She completed a BFA at the Universidad Anáhuac Mexico City and a second at the Art Center College of Design, where she then taught for over ten years. During that time, she worked as an illustrator for an impressive list of international clients. Her work is featured in New American Paintings #123, Graphis #355 and Taschen’s book, Illustration Now! She earned her MFA from U.C.S.B. in 2014.

Through April 24th, Sullivan Goss will show Surreal Women as a companion exhibition to its REAL WOMEN: Realist Art by American Women exhibition of 2021. The exhibition embraces intuition, bypassing the intellectual constructs of Breton’s infamous manifesto to go straight for the heart.
HONORING WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH and paying tribute to women who joined the Surrealist Movement that began in France entered the America in the 1920s, Sullivan Goss curators Susan Bush and Jeremy Tessmer chose fifteen contemporary women artists for Surreal Women, on view through April 24th.
Jeremy Tessmer, the Gallery Director at Sullivan Goss, has curated an exhibit with a provocatively fresh statement for the traditionally inclined gallery. The new show opening April 4 at the Vollmer Gallery titled Just Between Us is a group show of three artists, Wesley Anderegg, Rafael Perea de la Cabada and Maria Rendon, each with different mediums and personal inspirations.
The rule of three is a happening that shows up in our daily lives, and even dictates the conventions of art. Sullivan Goss certainly highlights this magical number, as the gallery welcomes three amazingly talented artists—Wesley Anderegg, Rafael Perea de la Cabada and Maria Rendón—in the exhibit Just Between Us, opening Thursday, April 4 and continuing through Sunday, June 2. All of these artists explore similar thematic and stylistic approaches, yet uniquely distinguish themselves. Luckily for us, they’ve agreed to share a space in which a creative body of work will emerge.
